I feel a deep need to explore and share the Eight Principles of Dubai on my website — not for promotion, but because they resonate with me profoundly. Every single one reflects values I stand for: unity, trust in fair governance, visionary urban planning, and dedication to future generations.

What gives me even more confidence is how consistently the government of Dubai has embodied these principles over the past years. Their actions — from sustainable infrastructure projects to inclusive policymaking — confirm that these principles aren’t just words on paper, but living values.

Sharing them helps shift perception, offering a more nuanced, hopeful view of Dubai and the UAE. It challenges assumptions and highlights a place shaped by both ambition and integrity.

The Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan is a bold, long-term vision designed to ensure sustainable development, high quality of life, and economic vibrancy (u.ae). Core objectives include doubling the city’s green and recreational areas, creating inclusive and vibrant communities, and enhancing mobility. One of its most ambitious concepts is the 20-Minute City, where 80% of daily needs—work, education, shopping, leisure—are accessible within 20 minutes by walking, cycling, or public transport (timesofindia.indiatimes.com). The plan also emphasizes innovation-driven sectors, sustainable energy, and future-proof infrastructure. Its ultimate aim is to make Dubai “the best city in the world to live in” (hausandhaus.com, apilproperties.com). For me, this plan embodies the forward-thinking spirit that sets Dubai apart—a place where progress is intentional, inclusive, and relentless.

The Eight Principles of Dubai

1. The Union is the Foundation

Dubai is an integral part of the UAE and a pillar of the federation. The Emirate’s destiny is entwined with the UAE’s destiny, its well-being is vital to the UAE, and its people are ever-willing to sacrifice for the greater good of the country. The Union’s interest is above local interest, the Union’s laws transcend our laws and legislations, the Union’s policy is our policy, and the Union’s government priorities are our government’s priorities.

My Thoughts
This principle underscores the strength of a shared vision over fragmented ambition — one of the pillars that inspired me to embrace Dubai’s path.

Die Union ist unser Fundament. Dubai und die VAE – sie sind eins. Was der Föderation dient, dient auch Dubai. Unser Emirat teilt sein Schicksal mit dem unseres Landes; seine Stärke nährt unsere Stärke. Hier stellt niemand das Eigene über das Gemeinsame: Was der Union wichtig ist, hat für uns Vorrang. Ihre Gesetze sind unser Maßstab, ihre Politik unser Weg. Die Prioritäten der Union tragen wir als unsere eigenen. So steht Dubai fest verwoben im Gewebe der Nation – ein Pfeiler des Bundes, getragen vom Willen, für das Wohl aller einzustehen.

2. No One is Above the Law

Justice is the basis of a strong and proud nation, and guarantees prosperity and stability. No one is above the law in Dubai, Starting with the ruling family. The law does not discriminate between citizens and residents, rich and poor, male and female, Muslims and non-Muslims. Justice delayed is justice denied. “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”. I renounce unfair practice or conduct of any person, and the ruling family shall likewise renounce any form of injustice as long as it governs the Emirate.

Kein Rang und kein Name heiligt Unrecht. Unser Gesetz gilt für jeden – vom einfachsten Bürger bis zur Herrscherfamilie. Gerechtigkeit ist unser Stolz und unser Schild: Sie macht uns stark und sicher. Vor dem Gesetz sind alle gleich – ob Mann oder Frau, reich oder arm, gläubig oder nicht. Wenn Recht spät kommt, kommt es eigentlich nicht – denn verzögerte Gerechtigkeit ist verweigerte Gerechtigkeit. Jede Ungerechtigkeit, und sei sie noch so klein, gefährdet das große Prinzip der Gerechtigkeit. Darum sagen wir jeglicher Willkür den Kampf an. In Dubai kniet niemand über dem Gesetz – das Recht steht über allem, und wir beugen uns alle vor dem Recht.

3. We are a Business Capital

The Government of Dubai aims to improve the lives of its people through strengthening its economy. Dubai does not invest or involve itself in politics, and does not rely on politics to ensure its competitiveness. We extend a hand of friendship to all those who hold good intentions towards Dubai and the UAE. Dubai is a politically neutral business-friendly global hub that focuses on creating economic opportunities.

Dubai’s commitment to remain politically neutral, while fiercely entrepreneurial, creates a magnet for global business.

4. Three Factors Drive Growth

Dubai’s growth is driven by three factors: a credible, resilient and excellent government; an active, fair and open private sector; and public and government-owned flagship companies that compete globally, and generate an income for the government, jobs for its citizens, and assets for future generations.

Drei Kräfte befeuern unseren Aufstieg. Erstens: Eine Regierung, der man vertraut – belastbar, vorausschauend, stets um Exzellenz bemüht. Zweitens: Ein freier Unternehmergeist – die Privatwirtschaft Dubais, aktiv und gerecht, sprüht vor Ideen und steht allen offen. Drittens: Unsere großen Vorzeigeunternehmen – von Dubai in die Welt hinaus gewachsen, schaffen sie Wohlstand, Arbeitsplätze und bauen Schätze für unsere Zukunft. Diese drei gemeinsam sind das Herz unseres Wachstums. Sie schlagen im Einklang: Die Regierung schafft den Rahmen, der Markt entfaltet die Energie, die großen Unternehmen verbinden heute mit morgen. 5. Our Society has a Unique Personality

Our society is a respectful and coherent one, bound by tolerance and openness. It distances itself from all forms of discrimination and biasness. It is a disciplined society, committed to its promises, timelines and covenants. We are modest about our successes, perseverant in dealing with challenges, charitable and generous in achieving the greater good, and open to everyone.

A culture built on respect, tolerance, humility—and progress driven by shared values, not individual ego.

Eine Gesellschaft wie keine zweite. Wir in Dubai begegnen einander mit Respekt, ob Einheimischer oder Neuankömmling, ob gläubig oder nicht – Toleranz und Offenheit sind unser gesellschaftliches Fundament. Vorurteil und Ausgrenzung haben bei uns keinen Boden, wir stehen Seite an Seite, vielfältig und doch vereint. Unser Wort gilt – Disziplin und Zuverlässigkeit formen unseren Alltag, Versprechen werden gehalten, Termine respektiert. Gleichzeitig tragen wir Demut im Herzen: Jeder Erfolg macht uns dankbar, nicht übermütig. Herausforderungen begegnen wir mit hartnäckigem Mut. Und wir teilen, was wir haben: Großzügig reichen wir die Hand, spenden für das Gemeinwohl, öffnen unser Heim für Fremde. 6. We Believe in Economic Diversification

Economic diversification has been the foundation of our unwritten constitution in Dubai since 1833. The changing times and the rapid developments make our commitment to this principle everlasting. Our new goal is to create at least a new economic sector every three years that will be productive, contribute to our GDP, and generate jobs.

Wandel ist unsere Tradition. Seit fast zwei Jahrhunderten folgt Dubai einem einfachen Prinzip: Streue breit, wachse sicher. Vom Fischerdorf zum Handelszentrum, vom Öl zur Tourismus- und Wissensmetropole – stets haben wir uns neu erfunden. Und wir machen weiter, denn die Welt dreht sich immer schneller. Alle drei Jahre ein neuer Zweig, so lautet unser kühnes Ziel: Jede neue Branche ein weiterer Pfeiler unserer Zukunft, jeder Schritt ein Plus an Wohlstand und Arbeitsplätzen. Diversifizierung ist für uns kein Schlagwort, sondern ein Versprechen an die kommenden Generationen: Wir ruhen nie auf Erfolgen aus, wir schaffen immer neue Möglichkeiten. So bleibt Dubai ewig jung, dynamisch und bereit für das Morgen.

7. A Land for Talent

Dubai has always relied on talented tradesmen, administrators, engineers, creatives, and dreamers for its success. The Emirate’s prominence, sustainability and competitiveness depend on its capacity to continue attracting skilled and talented people, and nurturing the brightest minds to generate innovative ideas. We have to continually review and renew our policies and procedures to ensure our appeal to talented individuals. We must build the best environment in Dubai for the world’s leading minds.

Deshalb prüfen wir uns stets selbst, feilen an unseren Regeln und Prozessen – wir wollen das ideale Biotop für Genies sein. In Dubai soll jeder kreative Funke zum Feuer werden können. Wir bieten Raum für Ideen, Unterstützung für Innovatoren, Heimat für die Wissbegierigen. Denn wir wissen: Jede talentierte Person, die hier ihre Träume verwirklicht, lässt auch Dubai heller erstrahlen. 8. We Care about Future Generations

The destiny of our future generations must not be affected by the fluctuations of regional politics and global economic cycles. We invest and create valuable assets for them. Our fundamental rule in this regard is that the government should, under all circumstances, own economic assets that are worth at least 20 times the value of its annual budget. We work towards maintaining a secure future, and we are focused today on ensuring the prosperity of our future generations.

Decisions today are guided by their impact a century from now—that’s legacy-driven leadership.

Heute schon an das Morgen denken. Nichts, was in der Welt geschieht – keine Krise, keine Laune der Märkte – soll unseren Kindern ihre Zukunft rauben. Darum legen wir in Dubai zur Seite, was immer wir entbehren können, und mehren die Schätze des Landes, bis sie zwanzigfach unseren Jahreshaushalt übersteigen. Dieses Polster ist das Schutzschild unserer Nachkommen. Doch es geht um mehr als Zahlen: Mit jeder Straße, die wir bauen, jedem Schulprojekt, jedem neuen Wirtschaftssektor säen wir Samen für die Zeit, wenn wir selbst nicht mehr sind. Unser Blick richtet sich weit nach vorn: Wir träumen für unsere Kinder, damit sie einst in Sicherheit und Wohlstand leben. Ihr Morgen beginnt in unserem Heute. Why I Chose to Move to Dubai

My decision to relocate here is deeply rooted in values and vision-driven above all by family.

Safety

Dubai consistently ranks among the safest cities in the world, with crime rates that are remarkably low, reportedly as few as 16 criminal incidents per 10,000 residents. That’s more than a statistic to me, it’s peace of mind. Safety is the invisible foundation on which everything else in life is built. It means my family can walk freely at night, my children can explore the city without fear, and we can focus on living rather than worrying. Coming from places where safety often feels uncertain, this stability is priceless. In Dubai, safety is not just a promise; it’s a lived reality every day.

Weather

I’ve always felt more alive under the sun. Dubai offers all year sunshine, a golden glow that fuels my energy and lifts my mood. While others shy away from high temperatures, I thrive in them. The long, bright days create an endless summer feeling — a stark contrast to the grey, damp months in Europe. Here, I can plan outdoor activities without worrying about rain or cold. The warmth seeps into daily life, fostering optimism and vitality. For me, Dubai’s climate is not just a backdrop; it’s part of the lifestyle I’ve dreamed of for years.

Future Vision

Dubai’s culture of forward-thinking ambition is contagious. The city’s leadership doesn’t just dream. It executes, and it executes fast. Everywhere you look, there’s construction, innovation, and a relentless drive toward a better future. The Dubai 2040 plan is a perfect example of this mindset. It inspires me to think bigger, to push further, and to lead my business with the same clarity of vision. This is a city where ambition is normal, where goals are met with action, and where “impossible” simply doesn’t exist. Being in that environment fuels my own desire to create and achieve more.

Taxes

I believe in contributing to the society I live in. But only when there is transparency and value in return. In many countries, high taxes are met with inefficiency and waste. In Dubai, low or non-existent personal income taxes mean I can reinvest more into my business, my family, and my future. It’s not just about saving money; it’s about directing resources where they have the most impact. The result is a system that rewards productivity and innovation, rather than penalizing them. For an entrepreneur, that’s a game-changer.

Family

At the heart of every decision I make is my family. I want my children to grow up in a place that is safe, full of opportunity, and rich with experiences. Dubai offers world-class education, diverse cultures, and a lifestyle that balances tradition with modernity. Here, they can learn resilience, tolerance, and ambition simply by observing the world around them. For my wife and me, this move is not just about our careers or personal dreams. It’s about building a foundation for our children’s future. And that, more than anything else, is why Dubai feels like the right choice.
